The
Jaeger Company assisted the State University of West Georgia in
implementing portions of its recent master plan. This project, which
focuses on the landscape character of the campus, will address site
improvements such as circulation and landscaping, and will specify
a pallet of materials such as paving and site furniture.
In
the design process, The Jaeger Company researched the development
of the historic campus, walkways, circulation patterns and site
features. The proposed circulation design enhances the historic
character of the campus while addressing current needs of the campus
population.
West
Georgia's historic front and middle campus, highlighted by mature
oak trees, is enhanced in the plan through a reinterpretation of
the original quadrangle space and its network of diagonal paths.
A
fountain is proposed to further enhance this area as the historic
core of the campus. The quadrangle concept is expanded within middle
campus to organize the current haphazard pedestrian system.
The
historic quadrangle, a priority project, is being further refined
with the development of construction documents.
